The Life Care
Ministry at St. Joseph's Parish is
comprised of a group of individuals, who have the honor of bringing
the Word of God and the Blessed Sacrament to the residents of the
Life Care Center of Auburn. The
residents of the nursing home are unable to travel to church for
Mass and rely on the Life Care Team to bring them these precious
gifts.
We believe that
the Word and the Eucharist are the center of our parish life and
mission and that everyone should be afforded access to these
life-giving, healing riches.
Four members of
the team go to the 9 a.m. Mass and then to the nursing home, as an
extension of the Eucharistic Table that we all share here. Two
members of the team offer a Eucharistic Prayer Service in the
activities room, where the Word and Eucharist are shared with the
Catholic residents who are able to attend. The other two team
members travel throughout the facility to bring Holy Communion to
the other Catholic residents who were unable to attend the service.
In addition
to this weekly ministry, Mass is celebrated on the second Tuesday of
every month by the pastor.
Members of the
Life Care Ministry are: Marty & Lynda Fernsten, Joe & Dolly
Cloutier, Jack and Mary Wood, Pat Messina, Paul & Patti Verderese,
Roger Richer, Mary Skorvanek, Donna Perron and Pam Sheeran.
