EVANGELIZATION
|
Evangelization is the proclamation
of the gospel, to Christians and non-Christians, in
an attempt to awaken and/or nourish faith. It also
includes any activity directed toward the building
up of the Church and the transformation of the world
toward the gospel and the will of God. Many people are already evangelizing
without knowing it: mom and dad teaching their
children the gospel values by embodying them in
their daily lives; by being friendly to people and
listening to their problems; by writing to your
senator or representative to urge better housing for
the poor; by comforting a fearful patient; by
counseling youth; by fighting world hunger through
an organization like Bread for the World. These are
all examples of engaging in Evangelization. It is our daily loving service to
others that best reveals the Good News of God’s
Kingdom to others. It doesn’t matter whether you are
a psychologist or a bartender, a teacher or an
airline flight attendant, you can convey a living
experience of Christ to others when your service to
them is warm, joyful, kind and loving. This is
evangelization at its best. Here at St. Joseph’s we have many programs that interact and try to evangelize our people and our community and create an atmosphere of welcoming. By reaching out to others and being concerned for those less fortunate than ourselves, you truly are evangelizing. |
